Sisters are flowers from different gardens.

Still working towards my goal of becoming better at photo editing, I have been recycling a few old photos of mine and adding a few Photoshop edits to make them shine!

As I started to work on this photo it just kept looking better and better! It helps that the composure was good to start with.
I ended up making two versions of this photo – one to send as a ‘thinking of you’ card and another to my sister! (She loves it when I send her things with ‘sisterly quotes’!)

I found this great quote which worked right into the theme of the image.

Here I converted the photo into black and white, added some honey brown and rose to the image, boosted the contrast and decreased the shadows. I added a textured layer (with some heart shapes), some text and my watermark!

Here are the before and after shots! What do you think?

Quotes and statements that spark my interest…

Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get ~ Forest Gump

I received an email from Twitter the other day, advising me that they missed me and hope that I return to the world of twitter soon, as there was so much I was missing out on!

My guess is that Twitter is not missing me, but rather has sent me an automated email due to the fact that my account activity had been zero for quite some time.

At my @shmachee Twitter account, I tweet quotes that I come across in daily life.

Quotes and statements that spark my interest. I don’t find them, they find me! is my tag line.

I read, I study, I learn. I find ‘one liners’ and such that really hit home, stir something within me. I tweet them. Why? To share them, but to also have a record of them. They will come in handy one day, hopefully even in my teaching. That is the aim.

Since receiving this email, I thought – “Why have I not contributed to this lately?” I the answer is that I have been doing other things besides reading, like this blog, working and finishing my studies for the year.

Their email was a reminder, or a kick up the bum, to revisit the quotes that sparked interest within me.
